The Luton Airport Drop-Off Charge — What You Need to Know in 2026
On 22 January 2025, Luton Airport removed the physical payment barriers from the Express Drop-Off Zone and switched entirely to Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). Your vehicle is photographed when it enters and exits. There is no machine to pay at. You receive an invoice and must pay online at lla.info or lutondropoff.apcoa.com by midnight on the day of your visit. Miss that deadline and a £95 Penalty Charge Notice is issued automatically.
The charge is £7 for the first 10 minutes, then £1 per minute for minutes 11–30. After 30 minutes the PCN is automatic regardless. When you book with us, this charge is already inside your fare. Your driver pays it. There is nothing extra to deal with at the terminal.

If you’re staying at the Holiday Inn Express Luton Airport — which sits outside the Express Drop-Off Zone on Airport Way — a drop-off or pickup there avoids the ANPR charge completely. It’s a 3-minute walk to the terminal. If you have a very early flight and want to stay nearby the night before, this is worth knowing. We can quote for the hotel rather than the terminal drop-off if it saves you money.
Free Alternative: Long Stay Drop-Off
The Long Stay car park offers free drop-off for up to 2 hours. A free shuttle bus runs to the terminal every 20 minutes and takes about 10 minutes. If you’re being dropped by a friend, this is the way to avoid the charge. For a pre-booked taxi, the Express Drop-Off Zone is quicker and the charge is in your fare — so it makes no difference to what you pay.
